Beach Day

July 5, 2017

We had some family visiting from Oklahoma so of course we had to share our favorite beach spot! The weather was absolutely perfect and our only complaint was that we couldn't stay longer. My babes are endlessly entertained while we're there and love finding as many sea creatures and shells as they can. I am so bummed we didn't get a picture but Harper found what we thought at the time was a weird piece of seaweed...turns out it was a Great White Shark egg! Yeah...she was playing with it...so crazy. Starfish, various sand crabs, and sand dollars are always a few of the treasures we come across. So grateful to live in such a beautiful place and close enough to the beach to visit often! A little slice of paradise.

Sunday

Sundays are easily one of our favorite days of the week. We spend our morning at church which isn't always easy with five kids but it's always worth the hassle because we love our church family. Kaleb is plugged into a ministry that he really loves and our kids learn so much and always have fun with their friends while we're there. We've started coming straight home, we make lunch, and then spend the entire afternoon resting//napping. It is glorious! The only day out of the week that we all take time to relax and refresh for the new week ahead. After everyone wakes up we all walk to Starbucks and get the kids treats. It's our new tradition and we all love it.

The Long Trek Home

July 8, 2017

Saturday morning started out really fun and easy. We woke up slowly and headed down for breakfast with my family before hitting up the pool. Let me just say that my kids were probably more excited about going to the pool than they were about the baseball game that we were down there for! They had so much fun splashing and "swimming" even though none of them can swim yet >>I know, they need lessons stat!<<. The boys are tall enough now to jump in on the 3 foot end so they had a ton of fun jumping in hundreds of times!

We finally made our first EVER trip to IKEA! Oh boy, it was huge and crowded and we were only in there for two things but gosh...I am definitely going back when there's more money in the budget for a house project! They have everything you could ever imagine! In my head I redecorated every room in our house as we walked through. The babes were troopers through that whole ordeal but the ice cream//cinnamon roll line was WAY too long so we snatched a thing of cookies as we checked out and oh my oh my they were tasty. A well deserved little treat for everyone!

Before we got back on the road we needed to eat lunch because at this point it was already after 2 pm. We were all hot, tired, and hungry. We stopped at the perfect outdoor mall downtown and had chipotle. We treated the kids to Ben and Jerry's to cool them off before we made the three hour drive home.

I must say, a three hour drive is not bad unless you're REAL tired....we only made it home alive because I pounded cookies like it was my job to stay awake. Everyone else was passed out COLD until someone woke Sawyer up very very very prematurely....then the crying kept me awake. Phew! We're glad we went, we're glad we're home, and we're glad to have some new memories to tuck away.

Our First Baseball Game

July 7, 2017

We had the opportunity to go to a Dodger game this last weekend for the first time as a family and it was so much fun! We had a long, hot, exhausting 24 hours but we made some good memories along the way. Our trip started out with traffic from Santa Barbara to Santa Clarita >>aka almost the entire trip.<< Once we made it to our hotel we had fifteen minutes to unpack, change >>throw on lots more layers of deodorant<<, and get back on the road! We were only ten miles from the stadium but it took us over an hour to drive there and get a parking spot. It was kinda crazy. Our kids were so good the entire drive down and into the stadium >>ptl<< Porter didn't even make a peep. We arrived tired, hot, and hungry an hour late to a seven o'clock game...yes, that is our kids bed time. And yes, we did in fact pay for that the following two days haha...I would say it was pretty worth it.

We got back to our hotel well after midnight, watched a little LOTR to power down and then we CRASHED. Porter slept in our bed which we are NOT used to...neither of us were very happy about it <<haha>>. He woke up a few times fussing like "get out of my bed!" and woke up for good around 7:30 am so I got little to no sleep that night. Next time, we'll bring the pac-n-play FOR SURE! The older boys slept great in their queen size bed together and Harper slept in another room with one of my sisters. Day trips are so fun but so exhausting with five babes in tow!
